This isn't right you know...
Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. My name is Tristan B and I’m delighted you’re here.
As you’ve probably noticed, I am a furry lion! If you’ve noticed that, you probably won’t be terribly surprised to hear that I am also bisexual and neurodiverse (ADHD). Apparently, it happens :)
I’ve worked in the tech industry for over 20 years now and have owned a computer for more years of my life than I haven’t. I’m pretty disillusioned at how all that’s worked out, to be honest. Stick around and I’ll tell you why!
I’ll be writing about work, computing, music, privacy and politics. I’m going to be up front about this too, my ADHD diagnosis and subsequent Lisdexamfetamine prescription have given me a bunch of attention and motivation that I didn’t have two months ago. I need a hobby!
Whilst I won’t be connecting this at all to my place of work, I think I’ve picked some things up over the years that might help people. Or at least be interesting. I see a lot of people, mostly awful LinkedIn types, write a lot about work and management and it’s pretty dreadful stuff. None of it has ever helped and it’s certainly never spoken to me. Much less for me. I want to try and change that.
Everyone should be compensated in some way for spending their time doing something they wouldn’t otherwise be doing. If you can be rewarded for spending time doing what you enjoy, so much the better. If that time is rewarded and will benefit society as a whole, well that’s about as good as it’s going to get. The concept of work in and of itself is not a bad thing.
Needing to work in order to pay your bills, keep a roof over your head, avoid hunger and access healthcare is very much a bad thing!
I don’t like it but, until the work we do is decoupled from staying alive, it’s the game we are forced to play. We should play it in a way that minimises harm and lifts as many of us up as possible.
Because the Fediverse is a better place to have conversations. Feel free to follow me at @TristanB@tiggi.es
